Din HP is indeed ( slightly) larger than SAE HP....therefore requiring "fewer" of these DIN HP for the same output motor power.

Wil, All kidding aside, 1 HP= 1 HP. DIN and SAE just use 2 (slightly) different measurements on the motor, ie. one measures w/ all accesories hooked up, one doesn't, or something like that. I forget.
The DIN figure will be higher than the SAE figure for the same powerplant, as evidenced by Porsches #s for 911s. The 2.4 911S was rated 181 SAE net HP @ 6500 rpm by Porsche, and I believe 190 DIN HP. (Source: The Porsche Family Tree , 1983. Official factory literature). |
well according to Porsche.com
here the 911SC from 1980 is went from 180 to 188, and then in 1981-1983 it was 204 hp... http://www3.porsche.com/40years/pcna/common/modell_lang_6_gen_1_n_11.htm |
