TEC3 Questions???

I'm installing a TEC3 in my buddy's race car, but I'm not really a
mechanic and need to know some answers. What would be a typical engine timing scenario for a 3.4 Carrera with cams,
high compression, and a stock injection system?
Also, does anybody know what the lb/hr rating is on the stock
injectors. Any info OR advice on the TEC3 would also be greatly appreciated!
Thanx in advance,
Pete

Rick Clewett is the expert on this stuff (www.clewett.com). However, if you didn't buy any system components from him, I probably wouldn't call him up for free advice.

Ive done a few Tec installs, as well as with Haltechs...and tuned some piggy backs

You will need to build a base map...Tec 3 has a "wizard" that will create a *.bin file that will get the car running. You enter the basic engine configuration...and it makes a basic "bin" file

After you have the car running... it becomes a trial and error tuning scenario...A wide band 02 sensor, and accurate EGT gauge, and a knock sensor.. are required tools

A quick and dirty timing map may be 5 deg at 1000rpm, and 30 deg at 3000rpm...

Optimum timng and power will only be realised through dyno tuning....You can get close approximations through trial and error on the track...

Basically you tune each load range to have safe fuel delivery ie richer than 14.7

then you load the dyno and dial in timing till you have max power..when you have found the advance that delivers max power.... dial it back just a bit...

There are lots of other tricks available to tune an engine with EFI...

Clewett is helpful... but you can always call electromotive for support

A spreadsheet someone sent me lists those injectors (Bosch 0 280 150 158) at 25.9 lb/hr.
