I saw one at Concorso Italiano. It was being auctioned off. Maybe it didn't sell?

None that I have seen for sale, but I did see a picture and it raised a question. What is the flap on the hood for? Fuel?

one in west hollywood...

i have seen one at Heritage Classics on Santa Monica Blvd. A black '88....I stop by there once in a while just to salivate all over myself. They don't usually have any porsches (mostly aston martin, ferrari, lambo) but this one has been there at least 6 months in the back. This place is pretty classy but I'm not sure of their reputation....anyone else know this place or the car?

if your friend needs me to go on a test drive with him, let me know!

Canepa sells there 959's for $400K up. Is there really a $125,000 plus difference between a Canepa 959 and the one listed at Heritage Classics for $275K? I understand that he needs he needs to make a profit. The spread seems rather large though?

Canepa does a complete redesign of the intake/exhaust/fuel systems. The result is an emissions compliant engine with more torque and Hp then the stocker.l read an article on then recently...can`t remember more of the details though but really impressive stuff

Raceman is the 959 at Heritage Classics not emissions compliant?

My guess would be that it meets the requirements for sale in CA since there are a CA dealer. I would imagine that you are limited to 2500 miles per year under the show car provision.

Now I just need to win the lottery or the Exacta at Del Mar to buy the 959.

A "friend" is looking? Have we heard that somewhere before?

(Sold a house, could sell 308, a 959 could be a business write off unlike a Ferrari...........hmmm)

Wayne's next book is probably "101 Projects for your 959" and he needs one as a guinea pig.

Try calling Andial. They have a half dozen 959 customers, there is usually 1 or 2 at the shop. My buddy rebuilt the motor for one there a couple of months ago, maybe Dieter knows if someone wants to sell???

According to recent auction sales, Sports Car Market Magazine says tha the 959s should fetch between $150K and $175K. I don't know where these $275K figures are coming from (wishful thinking?). Again, these numbers are based on actual sales that changed hands...

From my experience, Heritage Classics in Santa Monica is a pretty reputable establishment.
I did some checking around before I bought a 356 Conv D from them back in '94. Apart from one dodgey salesman who messed me about (& was then fired by the owner as a result!) - their client base speaks for itself. When I collected my car, 6 cars were being loaded on a transporter bound for Brunei - the Sultan strikes again! And Christian Slater was "shopping". The owner "name dropped" several other A-list clients. I guess I was the "only" pleb in attendance!!!
10 years later, my 356 is exactly as it was represented - 20,000 more miles, won our club concours 5 years ago, and is now worth twice what I paid for it.
BTW - sometimes the most interesting cars there are those out back being tickered with by the mechanics - Abarth Carreras, 934s, 550s, RS60s ....
