Weber Fuel Pump Plumbing?

Hey guys,

I have a 83' 3.0 with Webers installed by P.O. The fuel pump is very noisy. I believe it is the stock pump. I did some research and apparently there are a variety of ways to plumb fuel to the Webers.

Currently I have the a 4 port fitting in the engine bay. It has fuel inlet, return, lines for the carbs and a 0-15 psi pressure guage. The return line has a clamp on it that is used to adjust the fuel pressure. The P.O. had it dialed into 10 psi. From what I have read this is way too high. Could this cause the fuel pump noise and/or damage to Webers? Currently, it runs great just noisy.

First order of business is to reduce to 3.5 psi.

Is a noisy stock pump an indication of forthcoming failure?

What is the preferred method of plumbing Webers?

my became noisy and crashed within 10k mi. It has one foot on a banana peel and the other in the grave imo.

The routine is to dead head the fuel feed. PMO has a regulator designed for use with the fuel return line. It's very popular and is supplied by Pelican Parts.
Another not so well known system is a full loop of the fuel.. The loop is being used on Calif tracks and I was informed of it by one of our gurus.. therefore a line going to the rear of one carb, a loop from the front to the front of the other carb, the rear of the second carb to a regulator, then to the return line. The loop system is very efficent when using a CIS pump. I'm in the process of the loop install now.

How does the pump and regulator Pelican sells work? Is there a return line back to the pump? Where does the pump and regulator mount?

There are options on the pump. The rotary is the best and most expensive.. The Holley Red pump is not rotary and very popular for less $. Pelican also has the pump that PMO recommends. Call them.

The return line is attached to the PMO regulator and returns fuel to the tank.

The pump mounts in the stock location. The regulator is commonly mounted foreward of the engine on the cross brace. If you do a search you'll find many pics.
