Cab boot question
I have an 83 SC Targa converted to a 92 964 Cab. The cab top is the correct one for a 964. It is a manual top that latches with electric motors. I tried to fit a SC cab boot, but the snaps did not match up. They were not even close.
Is there a difference in cab boots between years? Is the 964 cab boot different from the 83SC? Does it make a difference if the top is manual or electric? My solution may be to meet up with someone who has a 964 Cab and try their boot, but I thought I would educate myself with your knowledge. Thanks, David :) |
Can you take a picture? That might help.

I can't answer your question but if you end up getting a new boot to match the 964 top, I may be interested in buying your 83SC boot.

Hey guys….been a while since I have posted.
Anyway, this post brings back some memories. I wanted a tonneau cover for my 1988 Cab. Bought a 1985 would not fit…sent it back. Bought a 1987…would not fit and sent it back. Both were stock Porsche tonneau’s. Since my top had been replaced before buying my car, I came to realize that the installers had moved the posts. However, the boot still fits. So they probably replaced that at the same time. I checked part numbers for 83 and 92 - 911 561 023 00 – same. So I would think a stock Porsche boot would fit. Unless your posts were moved in some way like mine. Jason 88 911 CAB |
I do not have a boot yet. I tried to fit one (I am not sure what year/model) it was designed for, but the snaps were not even close. I will post a picture of the P-car, but I did not take any when I tried to fit the borrowed one. Thanks!

I think the type of snap you have is the Tenax(?) style. Your top looks the same as mine except mine has standard snaps. My snaps seem to be in about the same place as yours.
