Weltmeister Cambermeister question

Rumor has it that the Cambermeister can give you one more degree of negative camber than you can get in the stock configuration...any truth to this? And, if so, is it the one that is $199?

Thanks all.

Any strut bar can provide some degree of overcamber I *think*. I would concentrate on which bar mounts most effectively to the strut uppers.

I went with Chuck's Elephant brace (very pleased) but I was not in the market to get negative camber so YMMV.

I *am* in the market for more negative camber, so this cambermeister brace looks like a cost-effective option if it does indeed add a bit more. I guess we'll see!

Thanks,

mike

Any strut bar that bolts onto the strut towers and has threads to adjust the spread can create negative or positive camber. It's just a matter of reducing the span with a wrench to draw in the towers. Careful, not too much. I'd consider doing this only as a fine tuning adjustment.

A better way to gain more camber range is to remove the strut and enlarge the mount opening in the chassis with a rotary grinder or equivalent. Careful, not too much.

Unfortunately, Sherwood, my class doesn't allow that. So I have to get the max camber without enlarging the mount opening. I can slot the mounting holes, but can't enlarge the main opening. So, my original question remains...can I get MORE by using the Cambermeister?

Like Sherwood said - any left/right threaded strut brace can be used to pull the towers together. But only a little, you might get 1/8-1/4 degree before you close up your hood gap completely. This isn't a way to achieve significant camber increase, and you have no control over the impact to each side - it may not be equal.

Your options for more camber -

- sloting the mounting holes
- offset camber plates
- weld-in camber boxes
- decambered spindles
- an entirely new product I'll be announcing this summer

The Wevo camberking says it will get you 1 degreee more camber with out chassis mods. A little pricey at $700 but it comes with front mono balls also.

I've got one on my car, and it does appear to allow you to crank in some negative camber. I'd be wary of this approach, as you are mechanically pulling on the shock towers and tweaking the "natural" setting of the chassis. I'd only do this for minor adjustments too (mine is just "tight" - not cranked down).

Thanks.

Actually the cambermeister will give more camber by crushing the rubber bushing on the upper mount. The front shock bar itself goes through a hole in the cambermeister plate and "replaces" the function of the rubber bushing. You then have direct control over where the top of the shock is located and can move it in quite abit. The limitation on my car is under the fender where the dust cap for the strut hits the inside edge of the fender.

Come on Chuck, give us some idea what you have cooking? SHould I delay my purchase of a triangulated brace from you or does this new product not incorporate a different brace setup?

How much do you suppose I'd get by slotting the mounting holes? It seems to me that if I could reduce the size of the top bushing/nut, and slotted the mounting holes, I could get a whole bunch. And what are "offset camber plates" Chuck?
