Adjusting rear height with eccentric bolt
 

1981 911 SC. Anyone know which way you turn the rear height adjusting eccentric nut to raise the rear? I see the procedure in "101 Projects", but it doesn't say which direction raises/lowers.

Just scribe a line to determine you starting point. If you turn the bolt one way and the spring plate goes up you are lowering the car. Turn the bolt the other way to raise the car. As long as you have a reference to your starting point don't worry about which way you turn the bolt you can always get it back to your original setting.

Make sure you have the thin wrenches.

You should also get an alignment when your done.

Tthey go around so you should be able to tell by making one revolution as a test.

Actually they don't go roundy-round.

Push down on the wrench to raise the car.

Can it be done with the car on the ground? Or do you have to take the weight off the rear end?

Anyone know what the camber and/or toe curves on 911 rear susp are like? I know what my current aligment is and I am thinking of lowering it 1/2" via this method and could potentially benefit from the aligment changes as well.

Have fun breaking the bolts loose...they are tight mothers. Air powered tools are a good idea to loosen them...

Recently, I had to cut the nut off of mine to adjust the height. An impact wrench wouldn't do it. Also, the eccentric is set from the factory to be able to raise the car only. You'll have to re-index the torsion bars.

First of all you will need the thin wrench to do it since they are a self locking nut. I was able to remove them and clean them up on the wire wheel, lube them and reinstall. You must be off the ground when adjusting, and I was able to lower it about 1/2 to 3/4".
