80 911sc caliper rebuild - tight piston fit?
Just rebuilding my stock calipers and with the new seals and the fit with the pistons is very tight. I have tried assembly lube as well as brake fluid but to no avail. I can't easily slide them in by hand and am thinking a small c clamp might be needed to seat them for the boots and pads.
Experience or opinions? Thanks, Graham

I just rebuilt mine 2 weeks ago.
Smear the lube on the piston and on the seal. Push in with a small C-clamp. Go easy. They'll move for you. After you bleed the brakes (took me 2 power bleeds and 2 manual bleeds to get all the air out) pump your pedal up a few times until it's firm. Recheck the fluid level in the M/C. It should have dropped as the pistons should have moved out. Top it off and your done.

i used a c-clamp too. you have to go slow, because you can get all cockeyed in a hurry. remember to get that 20 degree angle correct.
cliff p.s. i used silicon grease.
