Lachsilber - Porsche Colour?
Hi,
I have a 1968 911T originally from the west coast of USA. I have a tin of the paint and its called Lachsilber, however I cannot find out on the interent if this is actually an official Porsche colour. You can see 2 pics of the car here If anyone knows where I could look or can tell me if this is in fact an original colour, can you please let me know? Any info greatly appreciated ![]() Many thanks Alan Dublin, Ireland |

Interesting color. It is spelled 'lachssilber metallic' and is paint code 81K. It is a 1989 color, not an early 911 color. It is also called Coral Metallic. Hope that helps.

Cool. Thats funny because before I found out the name of the colour, we described it as 'salmon' or 'champagne' but I always thought that sounded a bit girly
![]() I like the sound of coral metallic Cheers, Alan |

Another FYI: There is a 1974-5 color called 'Lachs Diamant Metallic' that is a lighter color than Lachssilber. The code for that color is 036. Guess someone at Porsche liked Salmon.

Lachsilber was actually a BMW color in the late 1980s...and very popular. Porsche was pretty gung-ho in the custom paint area during that time...the dealers would advertise that they would match any sample or other manufacturer's paint code. I saw a 911 painted Mercedes-Benz "Smoke Silver" a little while back.
Lachsilber always looked good on BMWs with their dark red leather seats!
