Replacing Cab headliner estimate

Tweeks, recently renamed something else, is a competitor of Pelican (specializes in Porsche parts).
There is nothing "easy" about repairing the tops of cabs. |
I couldnt find the Headliner on the Pelican Parts site. Apparently they do not sell them.

My wife brought me some headliner material from a fabric store. No, it's not Porsche headliner material, but you couldn't tell the difference if I didn't point it out. I cut the material to shape at the same time as tucking it into the front and rear roof areas using a thin steel ruler. Gently of course. Net result came out pretty well and I've got no complaints. Cost of the material was probably $5. |

The material in there now is so thin, that Im thinking a new one is going to rip out eventually anyway and at $160 a pop Id rather put my money elsewhere on the car. So it stays in even with just being tucked? cool |
The headliner is available from many sources. World Upholstery being one. On the two piece 911 tops, you must remove the front part of the canvas (closest to the windshield) to attach the leading edge of the headliner. There are also some straps that pull the headliner up to keep it from being punctured when closing the top. I have a couple of pictures from the factory manuals that may help if you decide to do this.

I did this myself with teh headline from World Upholstery and it came out just liek it did from the factory - just pay attention when you remove the old one. One trick - open the top slightly when you glue it in and when you close it it will be taught. Looks great. I would consider using an alternate material next time because the OE line is pricey and not very durable?

If you take your time and go slow you can make this pretty easy
1 Remove front and rear hardware , do not remove side seals or release outer cover for any reason . 2 Once hardware has been removed, remove headliner noting front and rear . 3 Set headliner off to the side and clean inner top frame of any loose debris , notice the headliner only glues to the top frame not the burlap 4 Pattern the new headliner as closely as you can , you'll notice the corners of the headliner are sewn , omitt this part as you'll see you can tuck these corners and make this area unnoticeable 5 Start the installation by finding center of the headliner . Glue only the center portion of the top frame and headliner , set headliner checking center from front to rear and side to side . Once you are satisfied with center continue to glue frame and headliner . 6 Reinstall hardwarer . One word of caution , when removing hardware be careful to not lose the inner plates behind the front and rear clips . A little tip , as you remove the clips put the screws back in the plates to hold them in place and when get the new headliner back in place use a razor blade and cut a small slit in headliner , remove screws and install clips . The last time we did one at the shop we used 3M weatherstrip glue (the yellow stuff).....messy, but once it cures, you've got an attachment that will not let go.

I recently did mine and only paid for the headliner. The 3m glue works well. I have pictures in a zip. Let me know if you want it.
