Off of which model years can I find...?
Hi. Looking for a low-budg suspension upgrade for my 72 911. Can someone please tell me what cars I should be looking at for these parts? I'm going junkyard shopping. (So to speak.)
(ie.. 28mm canooder links are found on the 84 carrera, etc...) • 21mm F torsions • 26/7/8 mm R torsions • Adjustable Spring Plates • 22 mm F Swaybar • 22 mm R Swaybar • Aluminum front crossmember • Aluminum trailing arms • 16 X 7 or 8 cookie cutters (to fit early offset...I DO have spacers) • 16 X 9 cookie cutters (From a 944 maybe?) That's all I can think of at the moment. If you can think of anything I'm missing, please chime in. Thanks in advance! mike

Cookie cutters only came in 15" and, AFAIK, only in 6" and 7" widths. They were standard in 1974-83 in many European markets, but most US cars came with Fuchs wheels as an option.
You are probably thinking of Fuchs wheels... |

• 21mm F torsions (not stock, 18.8 was as big as they went)
• 26/7/8 mm R torsions (75-89 930 had 26s) http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_torsion_bars/911_torsion_bars.htm • 22 mm F Swaybar (87-89 Carrera, but it has a different connection to the A-arm than you have, you have the throught the body style I think and these are under body. Through the body is generally thought to be better, but you'll have to upgrade to aftermarket style to get anything over 18mm) • 22 mm R Swaybar 87-89 (Carrera has a 21, but no 22s. you'd want smaller in the rear anyway to keep the back planted though right?) Used Carrera sway bars - anything to look out for? Lots of sway bar info about halfway through here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_speed_prep/914_speed_prep.htm • Aluminum front crossmember (75-77 could have either steel or Al, according to the PET it oks like steel went away in 78) Mid-years front suspension cross-member ???'s: • Aluminum trailing arms (74 and later, 74-77 had a ball joint type connection for the rear sway bar, 78 and later I think have a bolt on connection for the sway bar.) http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/01-2003.htm |

Just to ad/clarify:
• 21mm F torsions never stock, all 911’s had 19mm (18.8mm) front bars. • 26/7/8 mm R torsions 27mm & 28mm rears never stock, 26mm rear only found stock on 930’s. • Adjustable Spring Plates 1977-1989 • 22 mm F Swaybar 1986-1989 • 22 mm R Swaybar never stock, 21mm for 1986-1989 • Aluminum front crossmember 1976-1989 • Aluminum trailing arms 1974-1989 • 16 X 7 or 8 cookie cutters (to fit early offset...I DO have spacers) only made in 15x6&7. If you meant Fuchs, most `84-`88's have 16x6&7's. `89's had 16x6&8's stock. • 16 X 9 cookie cutters (From a 944 maybe?) did not exist. If you meant Fuchs again, 16x9's were only stock (rears) on `86-`89 930’s. Last edited by Eric Coffey; 05-31-2004 at 11:02 AM.. |

Thanks for the clarification! Looks like I'm heading the aftermarket route for a lot of this stuff.
