Plastic Polish

I got a pretty good deal on a used good condition rear reflector. It has a few spots where there are light scratches, and it has some signicifant hard water deposits from water running off the car. Does anyone know of a good product to polish this stuf out? Hopefully something that can be found at the local car parts store?

Believe it or not but, plastic model car guys use plain old crest toothpaste to polish clear lens plastics. I didn't believe it until I tried it. I'd try it on a bad turn lens first though.

A company called Novus inc. makes what I believe to be the best. They make a 3 part system, heavy scratch remover, fine scratch and a polish. You can use what ever level you need for your specific needs. Works great!

A common approach with Maguires is to start with #17 Plastic cleaner and then onto #10 Plastic polish. Use a 100% cotton towel.

Go to your local aircraft supply store. They have amazing stuff for plastic aircraft windows that removes scratches, haze, etc. If you don't have a local store near you, try these online outlets:

www.chiefaircraft.com
www.aircraftspruce.com

Good luck!

wet sand up to 1500 grit sandpaper, then use 3m polishing rub, meguires polish and then #10 polishing compound. It takes time but works damn well, I just had to build an acrylic box for a project in school and after cutting all the pieces we have to polish them up, works damn well.
