Are 930 Owners a little Snotty?

There's a few 930's running around the Detroit area. Drive Woodward Ave. on any nice weekend and you will see at least two.
Funny thing is they never acknowlege the existance of another Porsche. Kind of like we don't exist.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

I used to live in Detroit. (About 13 years ago.)

When driving on Woodward Ave.--or anywhere in the city for that matter--you never "acknowledge" another driver. The "acknowledgement" could be mistakenly interpreted as an insult and you could end up being shot!

They are probably trying to pay attention to how fast things are happening around them

I only know 1 930 guy here in Dallas and he's one of the nicest guys I know. He got us a special tour of Lamborghini of Dallas and Norwood Autocraft. Thanks Amac.
I lived 20+ year in Ann Arbor and Joes right about driving in Detroit.

Hardly any other Porsches acknowledge me or my car, especially late model 911's and Boxsters. Funny as it may seem, the people who always wave or say "nice car" are the Harley people. The 928 and 944 folks also wave or say hello, but that's it...

I just feel sorry for most people with 911s since they are so slow and too narrow bodied for my tastes.

The Porsche of my dreams is a Turbo S.
If I had one, I think I'd be full of snot.

Just about every 911, 930, 912, 944, 928, and 356 owner will wave or at least flash their lights at you where I live... now, 996 and boxter owners won't even look at you if you pull up next to them let alone wave... I admit it, I hate the 996, but the boxter really was a good move for porsche and nice design (except for not being able to see the engine), so why is it that the only people who buy boxters seem to be *********s?

As a lover of all Porsches I unashamedly admit that I would prefer to drive a 986/996 over many other marques. It's a Porsche! I try to flash all Porsche owners, all cool sports car owners for that matter!
I have established a wonderful "flashing" relationship with a Muira which I gather he daily drives! as I see him heading the opposite direction at least once a week during my awesome 20 mile canyon commute. I felt a bit uncomfortable after a couple unanswered flashes, but now he often beats me to the flash and occasional Italian trumpets!
I feel that some Porsche drivers are intimidated by 930's.........or perhaps it's just an intimacy issue

I also waive or nod at all Porsche and sometimes blink my lights. Funny thing is, no-one acknolwedges me be they in older 911s or the new stuff. I guess I just have geek written across the top of my windshield.

ok, i suppose i have to make another amendment to my previous statement. I met a guy with a black '02 boxster who just happened to be visiting one of my neighbors, he was pretty cool, and we talked Porsches for a little, so the cool boxster owners are out there, but... I still only know two.

I no longer waste my time acknowleding people in newer P-cars. They have a completely different mind-set and usually don't have a clue about the older car enthusiast. Owners with similar vintage cars just seem to get it.
