The 1st Mid-Engine Porsche V10 Road Car
No, not the new Carrera GT but the 1939 "F-Wagen" ("F" for Ferdinand and Ferry) road car. 1.5 Liter, 72 degree, water-cooled V10 mounted midship, 17 inch wheels. Unfortunately, WWII got in the way and it didn't get past the engineering drawings.

A 1.5 liter V10? Wow. I bet those pistons were tiny.

BTW: I spoke to the gas pump display case guy at Lime Rock last weekend, do you still need contact info?

There's a more detailed discussion of the F-Wagen (or Type 114) in the 1st chapter of the original Excellence Was Expected. -- Curt

That motor looks like it uses some concepts from the cistalia open wheel car they built (not as trick).

That car is way cool...front looks a lot like the streamliner cars he made based on the 356 after the war. Boy did he have some talent! BTW where do you get those pictues from, I'd love to see a larger version!

Those front fenders and the indentions on the hood made their way to the Volkswagen.
