Chicago folks: Anyone got a CO meter?

Calling all Chicago Pelican-heads,

I'm trying to get a read on my MFI settings. Does anyone have a CO meter that they'd be willing to lend me for a weekend adjustment?

Appreciate it,

Thanks
Tristan

Doesn't IL have emmissions testers? Why not go there and pay for the machine for 1/2 hour?

Hey, Mr Hum (or may I call you Ho?) I've got a Gunson CO tester that has gotten me thru emissions for the last ten years with my 72T. If you want to drive all the way down to Palos Park you are welcome to use it for a weekend.

Mike,

Thank you. I think I may try and find someone who has good experience tuning and fixing these MFIs. My solenoid doesn't work and I think it's dumping gas into the oil through the rings.

Any ideas on who in the area can service these things?

Thanks
Tristan

You might try Peter Fischer Motors in Barrington (847)304-8822. He's been at it for many years and comes highly recommended.

You have to test a 72? I thought the cutoff was 1973?

In Illinois the cutoff is 67 and older. My two Lotus (both 1970 vintage) still requires a probe up the tail pipe, no dyno roll unless its a 1980 or later and no dyno roll after 1996 with OBD II.

I'll be damned - I've never been checked on the Rolls since it's a 66 but all this time I'd been thinking a later car would have been safe. I'm replacing the RR and I'd been thinking I might indulge my interest in a longhood soon, either a 911 or 912.

I'm going to switch to the vintage plates anyway since my car is mainly a track car.
