What's the best way to clean fuse contacts?
I am in the final stages of my 74 911 restoration and the contacts for the fuses in the fuse box are corroded and need cleaning.
Has anyone found a good way to clean the fuse contacts, either mechanically, manually or using chemicals? |
Emery paper (fine) and electrical contact cleaner spray from Radio Shack work well for me

I'd typically say fine sandpaper but leaving fine scratches only invites deep seated corrosion in the future. How about using an inexpensive, supermarket metal cleaner/polish called Noxon. Dab a bit on, let sit for a few minutes and wipe. It should leave the contacts like new. It works mostly by chemically disolving the oxidation.

The metal cleaner sounds like a good way to go. Thanks, I' ll give it a shot.

Also consider a pencil eraser. They are useful where the corrosion is not *too* bad.
