Hi,
Has anyone used an Accel DFI gen. 7 ecu on there 911. I'd like to hear about your experiences. Thanks, Pat |

I was just wondering the same thing. I have researched everything from Megasquirt to Electromotive, but never heard of this until today.
It seems full-featured and reasonably priced, but I am worried about a "catch". Does anyone have any experiences or opinions to share? Thanks, Olivier

Perhaps Eric Hood (strokher racing) will chime in. He's currently building a monster 3.3 turbo motor which will run the Accel DFI gen 7. It should be interesting to see the results as Eric is a big proponent of the Accel system having come from building mega-hp (1200+)mustangs and the like. It is one of the systems I am considering for my EFI change over. The next couple months should bring some more answers as I know of at least 10 turbo guys currently in the midst of conversion. I'm hoping we can all learn from their experiences

Eric is actually the one who mentioned it to me today. Said he was a dealer, too.
I am also waiting to see how various other projects turn out to determine the best direction for me. I am also hopeful that UltraMegasquirt with WBO2 and ignition control hits the market soon so I can see what it can do and the bugs can start getting worked out. Olivier

The Accel was my second choice. It was second because I found out about it after I planned the wiring harness for the DTA. And that was a fair bit of work.

Hi,
I ended up putting this system on a mustang 5.0L motor. The installation took a weekend because I modified the harness to fit my application better. With this system you use the temperature senders supplied with the kit, they are GM parts so you will need to adapt them to your application. That's not a big deal as a coolant sensor will measure oil temp. As far as calibration of the system it is pretty straight forward as long as you have an air fuel meter. The most difficult part of the calibration is setting up the idle with a light flywheel and lopey cam. One note about the idle system, it also uses a GM type stepper motor so this needs adaptation to your manifold. I am still playing with the calibration, but it drives well as is. But it's like any toy, if I can change something I will. It is a good system, especially for the money. One other note, DFI offers a distributor for 911's now with a cam sync which allows you to run sequential fuelling with out adapting a cam sensor to your engine. Hope this helps. Pat |
