Genuine vs replica Fuchs

How does on tell the difference between a real Fuch and a replica?

Thanks,

Jay

There are many many threads on this.

Fuchs means fox in German.

Look for the little fox head logo. Is always the very last thing that appears after you clean the years of gunk off of the inside of the rim. Usually in the vicinity of the partnumber.

Most fakes are heavier, because they are cast not forged. Another way besides looking for the fox head on the back and the part number, is on some of the copies, the five triangle(between the paddles) type shapes will not be exactly the same.

Same as the other guys:
Part number on back, triangle, Fox head (maybe), size stamped.
When they are on the vehicle, feel the inside of the spoke, since true Fuchs are forged, they will be smooth, knock-off copies are most likely casted, so rougher.

Real Fuch

Poor knock-off copies will even mess-up and not cast the Fox head, but cast a bear instead...

Not a Fuch

Are those "bear" wheels hard to balance?
Built in parking brake...when the head is on the bottom, it won't roll either way!

Almost forgot, a very reliable source told me that the replicas that Performance Products was selling for a while, can be very difficult to balance. It seams the center hole was off center, which made it impossible to balance them on modern wheel balancers. I guess they ended up scraping a huge lot of them.
