shift ball cup bushing

How do you get the old ball cup bushing out of the shift rod? Do I just dig it out with needle nose pliers (in pieces)? It's really stuck in there. Also, I assume the new one just slides in?

On the same topic -- Does anybody have a pic of where the rubber “O” ring (999 701 969 40) that reduces shift rod rattles goes? Pelican has no pic for it. And what size O-ring does it require (I don't have time to mail order the part from Pelican, and after the last order experience, don't even want to try).

Also, are there any other fixes or upgrades on an early car that I can do while in there ? (I put in a new coupler already).

I know the later cars have a bunch of stuff doen to quiet rattesl and so forth - are any of those things worth doing in an early car?

Thanks!

Start digging!! It should come out with the needle nose pliers.
