svonkampen,
I agree with you assessment. On an early car, these early colors look great (mine's tangerine by the way). :D

What year is your car? Silver looks great on any 911. Maybe that's why you can get any year Porsche in that color. The neat thing about an aubergine car (or orange for that matter) is when you see it on the road, you have a pretty good idea what decade it comes from.

donk 06-05-2004 09:19 PM

nice ride. what color is that? is it a correct color for that year model? paint looks good in the pic. why are you repainting?

nostatic 06-05-2004 09:21 PM

is it polo red? Hard to tell the color from the picture. I assume you're going to repaint? Lots of great choices. I'm a fan of the signals (orange and yellow particularly), but aubergine is another good one.

I need a seat too, but I'll likely go Sparco since I'm not going "period".

svonkampen 06-05-2004 09:22 PM

donk,

My car is a 1968L ......I paid 8000.00 for it.....Has only 80.000 original miles.......Runs great........I drive it everyday (only car I have) I've driven 10.000 miles since purchase and it has never needed a tow......awesome....It Does 0-60 in about 8.2 sec......good enough.....It's my first P-Car and I love it......I'm totally addicted.....Her name is Ashley......She will be Augergine.......And when Autos Intl are done redoing my Recaro Sport Seats.....Look Out.....I also just bought a Silver Prototipo...

SvK,
Are you simply going for a "period correct" color, or do you want a color that was actually available in '68? I'm really hoping not to dissappoint you here, but according to the "Redbook", aubergine was not available in '68. If you like aubergine, paint it aubergine. Its period correct and a great color. I just thought I'd share this with you before you pull the (paint gun) trigger.

svonkampen 06-05-2004 09:42 PM

I'll paint augergine anyway.....It's an "early look" color and that is what is most important to me......

Thanx for looking it up ;-)

Pheonix Red? Code L32K?

JRISER 06-05-2004 09:45 PM

Burgundy Red? Code L017?

donk 06-05-2004 09:46 PM

glad to hear that... and i agree with your logic. if i had to repaint my car a different period correct color, that would be a very difficult decision. there are so many great early colors out there. aubergine is definitely one of them. heck, i've even caught myself looking at a sepia car and saying "that color looks pretty cool on a longhood".

donk 06-05-2004 09:49 PM

jriser,
what reference do you use to get color codes? all i have to look at is the redbook, and i can't find any letters in any of the paint codes listed in that book.
