Answers -Sexy parts pics + quiz

Once the old warhorses check in, the game's pretty much over. Grady and George get credit, Andy and John are close, and Terry was within 2 years on the age of the table.
This is a FORGED aluminum crossmember for 911's; much lighter than the steel early one, and much stronger than the G car cast piece. To my best knowledge, this piece was used on;

The last ('72) S/T's

Some Carrera RS's (but definitely not all)

2.8 RSR

3.0 RSR

Some 934's

The part # shown came on the piece, is correct in the 2.8 RSR parts list. It's NOS.
I've never heard of this piece used on 911R, but I've never been under a real one. I'd also guess it to be on the SC/RS, but ditto. My sources show this part homologated in mid '72. If anybody has more or better info on this piece, please post.
I'm a fanatic devotee of the Porsche era '65 -'75, when what I feel is the greatest assembly of drivers, race car engineers, and fabrication talent was assembled in Stuttgart. I love the way racing technology and lessons filtered onto the production line, often in a matter of months.
And I'm a parts freak. If anybody else out there has interesting 911, prototype, or unobtanium parts, post em and let the board guess. I want to know Everything.
DG

PS I'll post a tougher one here in a couple of weeks, when I get back from my VACATION! to the BEACH!

George, Mid-'70s Carrera, possibly yours?

Oh, and it is a 14" Fuchs w/ space saver spare?

Andy is right.
It is a *14"* fuchs spare.
I only ever saw 2 of these, this one and one in my mechanic's '76 Carrera 2.7 (one of 123 911/83 engined Carreras in 1976).
I wonder if anyone knows why they would build that.

George;

Sorry I got to your post so late. Definitely had me stumped. It's obviously a 14" deep Fuchs space saver, but I couldn't imagine for what or why. I started thinking it was a racer 1 off, like for a Targa Florio 2.8.

This was the year that lower profiles than 60 became available. The m395 option in '76 was for 50 series P7, maybe this spare would match their rolling diameter better.
