Finally committed!
My new ride!
Not too sure about the color, I'll learn to love it, but the price was right and it checked out. And you guys thought I was just tire kicking! Can wait to get it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1086577321.jpg |
Congrats.
|
Congratulations! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif Details! Details! Tell us more about it!
|
Is the exterior black, eggplant or dark brown?
Interior looks tan, the best color new, worst old and tired. Looks like a real nice car, enjoy.:) |
if the price was right enough, you can paint it whatever color you want. And backdate it while you're at it. Then tear out the interior and...and...
The fun is just starting. So where did you find this one? |
Looks nice, Ed! I like the ride height, too.
|
Nice looking car, Ed! Congrats. Hey, I think the color is cool. Is it black or brown? If black, you'll be busy keeping it clean. If it's brown, you can always fly under the radar as it seems to be the color that's not on the CHPs most wanted list. More details on the car, please.
|
yowZA! nice! now take that "porscheless" schit outta your signature!
|
Very slick!
Beautifu! |
Nice.
A good friend had an '80 SC Targa in that dark brown metallic (that's what I think you've got - from what I can tell) and it was beautiful! |
I think this is the same color. It looked great in person.

very nice car ! l forget how exotic l thought the 911 looked when l first saw the 76/77 turbo with the early tail that your car seems to be sporting. There is just nothing made that comes close to the 911 with it`s unique and timeless design.lt`s more then a car,and owning one is a gift.
|
Is that Mocha Brown?
Very nice choice, Ed, welcome off the fence! |
Specs: 1979 Mocha brown (not the first choice in colors), but the car is very clean. Has tan interior, which pass and drive seat are a little worn, nothing a set of sheepskins won't cure. The car has 94K miles on it, 2nd owner, located in Castro Valley. PPI seems pretty strong with compresion checking out and only minor leakage at the return tubes. Plan on driving up and driving it back the 6 hours from location, should a kick in the pants! Thanks to all you for educating me on p-cars.
See you at the track! EDB |
Congrats Ed! As I am getting closer to picking up an SC I am interested in what he was asking and what you paid for it (if you don't mind me asking). Also where did you end up finding it, autotrader?
|
Ed,
Castro Valley is in our backyard and Mines Rd is just around the corner. Let us know if you'd like to get together for a drive. I bet we can get at least 6 cars on the road. Chris |
Nice looking car Ed. Congratulations.
Personally, I love the color. |
Nice car, congratulations.
Is the car still here in Castro Valley? I have a set of sheepskins that have basically never been used as they were only on the seats for a couple months. They were purchased through Pelican a couple years ago as a x-mas present. Shortly after that I started to track my car and replaced the drivers seat. Color = Pearl which is basically a tan/biege color. Let me know if you are interested. Edit: Just re-read your post above. You have a PM. |
Congrats Ed, Now we got to here about the ride back in YOUR porsche.Have fun, Randy
|
Mind saying how much? Trying to track the market...
|
Well, I'll be. You did it. Congrats, bro. Enjoy the ride.

"come on in, the water is fine"
--I can see the 'duck-profiled' shark fins circling already |
I like the color. I'd paint the wheels to match the dark brown body color and...and then...It goes on and on.

You could always repair and/or redye you seats....... www.leatherique.com and/or www.colorplus.com Good luck. |
You could always doll up the paint like this:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1086640272.jpg
|
The seats are a no brainer. You don't want any factory seats. For track and even AX, sport seats with belt holes are a must! That eliminates the ugliest part of the tan interior. If it needs a dash, you are almost done.
George |
Price: $8,500.
What it needs: Trunk and Engine lift shocks, new front tires, elect. windows are slow, a/c inop (go figure) and of course a color change.... And I'll have $3,500 left for the emergency break down fund or mods... |
Sounds like you got a good deal. And it is a coupe! The color will grow on you and will help to keep the cops away.
Now someone get Fenderguy to buy a car and we all can relax... George |
Good price.....I think your wait finally paid off!
|
Ed...
Congrats on your purchase! Killer price! I wouldn't change the color...my girlfriend is an interior designer and browns are coming back "in" big time! Trust me, it will grow on you. I live nearby in Colton...let me know if you ever want to go on a fun drive. |

Nice car!!! I like the price too!!!! I wish I could have gotten a deal like that on my car. |

I have really always liked the different look of the tan interior. mixing tan/black inside also looks cool adding a bit of contrast. Good Lucking Car! Let the Good Times start Rolling! |
I can feel the force of the SCWDP growing stronger day by day...
|
Ususally, it does not matter what you pay for a 911SC, when it is all said and done and the car is in top notch condition, you have about $14,000. in the car.
By the way, nice car. I like brown because it does not get a lot of attention. Clean, I think brown is one of the best Porsche colors, especially the metalic. |
Yeah, I think brown is really unappreciated. One time while I was in my brown SC, I was doing 80 past the Hiddenbrooke exit at American Canyon towards Fairfield (those who live in this area know it's a speed trap). I couldn't help myself because a new black Monte Carlo SS was tailgating me. I don't know what he had under the hood but that car snuck up on me pretty fast uphill. Anyway, I switched lanes and then he blew past me, probably doing 90. Not a half-a-minute later, a CHP was on my butt the he too switched lanes and chased down the Monte.

Check the paint code on the front drivers door post if it is 451 then you have a Mocha Braun paint job. If so welcome to the unique world of the brown turds. I just repainted my whole car and decided to stick with the original color. Yes, I was not to thrilled about the color when I bought my car in 1991. As people have said you will learn to like/love it after a while. The paint in the two pictures are the same color the difference is from the reflection of light and the 1991 photo is a scanned image from a print of the original single stage color. The 2004 is from a digital camera and the paint is PPG Deltron base/clearcoat. Gotta love the modern technology.
