Fiberglass bumper guys help please!

I'm thinking about doing either RUF or IROC spoilers front/rear and was wondering if the weight savings was noticeable and aside from looking cool was it worth the $$? Any helpful hints and "do not do's" or "would do differently's"? Thanks

I installed an RSR/IROC fg front bumper/valance. If you go all the way and replace the bumper shocks with aluminum or similar, there is a large weight savings. Those shocks weigh about 7-8 lbs each, and the foglights are also heavy.

Unfortunately I didnt think to weight the parts, but there was a noticeable difference in turn-in and feel of the car. Having the space for a giant oil cooler was the reason for the change over weight savings, but the weight loss was great.

I am pretty sure you save around 50+ lbs or so. Yeah, it's noticeable.

The 50 pound weight loss would be the equvalent of increasing by about 5hp on a stock 3.2 engine. I think I'd rather have the weight loss.

Here's my IROC front and rear. I removed everything so that I could get my massive 70 Row cooler up front. Since then my engine is a rock at 180 degrees, even on the track.

My paint guy really charged me a fortune to paint and fit. I would be more careful and make sure I get a full quote next time.

He created two brackets for the rear bumper to fit onto, the front retained the large piston-like attachments. The rear is easy to remove (I've done it a lot) but the front is a bear and should remain on.

Overall the car is more pleasing to the eye, cooler (engine oil wise), lighter (about 2400 lbs, possibly less) and more distinctive.

l`ve replaced my bumpers with C2 glass/carbon fiber units and the weight savings was a lot more then 50lbs.l`ve been told it`s a 100 lb savings but that may be pushing it.l went with the glass front fenders also.l noticed the performance gain though, acceleration was a tad sharper

JonT...I believe the weight savings is around 100-110lbs. I did the group BW Motorsports buy-in for the IROC front/rear and they're still in the shipping boxes...I was going to put them on my 911SC...

right now I'm getting a PPI on the C4 and if it goes well, I'll be selling the 911SC and the bumpers...they were at an excellent price...I should know by next week if your interested...do a search for the "ultimate ruf conversion" for details on this set up

I lost my bumpers, bumpershocks and A/C. Then I added about 100 HP. WooHoo!

Not yet. For street driving, the SC brakes are perfectly adequate. Eventually I will start to track the car and brakes and suspension changes are in the plans. And more weight loss.

I am also researching my options for another winter project. I have considered carbon fiber bumpers, but think I'll probable stick with fiberglass in the event I go off track, it will be less painful money wise. I have muffler issues to resolve before deciding on my rear bumper, I currently have a sport like Tristan & will probable stick with it. Tristan, did your IROC rear bumper valence come with the grooves for the tail pipes? I really like the look of the one piece Ruf front bumper/valence & plan to order it from Mashaw because it is gel coated black, so I don't have to paint it untill I do the rest of the car. I plan on using ducting for the brakes & installing a oil cooler up front with Aeroquip hoses running up through the car. This is so I can lose my oil lines, trombone cooler, & rockers (20lbs).
