Porsche Crest Recent buy - 87 targa

Hi,
I'm a new member and here's my latest buy. A near perfect 87 Targa, inside and out. As you can see, my kids have had about enough of me babying this jewel. I got it a month ago. 98k miles now, all stock except for some maintenance parts and polished Fuchs, which I like a lot. Looks and runs like a dream.

Congrats. I bought my 87 Targa about 3 years ago w/ 89K miles, and now have 114K miles. Put in a new clutch, shocks, turbo tie-rods, and new intake manifolds. She purrs like a kitten. The A/C was converted to R132, but has to be recharged every summer to get marginal results. Still brings a smile to my face every time I look at it or drive it. Great year.

Targas rule!!! This is year two for me and it has been absolutely fantastic. Nothing is like a Targa!!! Cabs are to windy and coupes are to couped up and Targas are the best of both!!! I have put almost 10,000 miles on mine since purchasing so drive, drive, drive!!!

I don't know about too windy - more exposed - yes. Targas are great cars - Cabs are great cars - I like the lines of the cabs over the Targas - and if you want to feel like a rock star - buy a Cabriolet. Oh - and you get to say "cabriolet" instead of convertible... <--- that's an attempt at humor!

Nice car Steve - love the color - and the year is THE best!

BTW - with my recent foray into DE's - I wish my car was a Targa... I'll just have to do with the bolt in roll bar!

Won't be long before you shave the old Santa beard, you gotta be feeling ten years younger by now. Nice car, Targa's are the best.

Steve,

Welcome to the board, Good choice in the Targa. I know you will love it(no bias here). Just don't drive it in the rain until you have leak checked the roof. That's the only pit fall I can think of with the targa. Lot's of knowledge on this board from a great bunch of guys.

Porsche Crest

Very nice!
I bought mine recently too, but have yet to drive it, as it stills needs a couple things, but I'm VERY close now.
Have fun!

Ha! No beard. That's just my premature gray hair flying out from under my cap. Well, at least it used to be premature gray hair. But I do feel a bit younger..and it seems the ladies think I'm younger now. (Ssssh...don't tell my wife.)

It is kinda nice to see the heads turning as I cruise by.

Thanks. It doesn't leak when I wash it and the PO said it doesn't leak in the rain...only leaks if you blast a hose directly at the side of the rollbar seam. Still, I won't be intentionally driving it in the rain. I'll drive the 4x4 Pathy on rainy days.

But it sure the hell makes a ton of wind noise at high speeds. But, I just crank the stereo, or more likely, roll down the window so I can hear that 3.2 sing her awesome song.

Question, when you guys go through a tunnel or other echo chamber, do you always roll down the windows so you can hear that awesome engine singing? I admit, I do.

Man, you must be chompin on the bit waiting to drive it. I keep trying to find any excuse to take her for a spin. Hope you get her on the road soon.

Porsche Crest Chompin'

Steve- Yeah bigtime! It's getting a crack in the line going from the oil thermostat to the fender solved, at a shop. Then all I need is a windshield, and I finally get to drive it-

I run up five floors of parking garage in first gear with the top down-awesome sound for 10-15mph and I know they hear me coming.
