Needed: cab roof electrical schematic
Pelicans,
I need to figure out my balky '88 911 cab elec roof. I wonder where a wiring schematic might be. Bentley pretends cabs don't exist. I suspect the Porsche factory manuals might be the answer. If anyone has access to this cab roof electric schematic, any chance you could fax me the page(s) or scan and post. I haven't really needed the factory set yet and am hopeful to keep coffee money in my pocket a little longer. Thanks, Chris 781-434-5916 - fax

I was just searching for some top schematic info and came across your post. I was wondering if you ever found a schematic and if so where. I am sure not having any luck finding one.

The problem, now solved, was having only one power lock fire when opening and closing the roof. I removed the front valance covering the locking motors, tested power to each motor (by pulling the 4 prong connectors and testing the outside wires - heavier guage), and found the driver's side motor was not receiving power. So, I tried to trace the wire back through the roof and body looking for a kink, short, something. No dice, so I decided to cut the driver's side un-powered (faulty) lead and sister onto the passenger side powered lead, allowing both left and right motors to fire together. Works like a champ. No circuit overloads, so far anyway.
On the schematic, the Bentley has one but the Porsche factory manuals are more complete.

I have a Bentleys Technical Data manual for 89-92 964's but it doesn't have a schematic in it. Its not even a year old. Should it?I've checked my top out to where everything works correctly by itself. Latch motors both operate when hooked up to 12 volt source. Switches in them work ( are open at both endes of their stroke). All the micros are working. The latch motors just don't get told what to do when the top hits the windshield.I've been searching around for a control unit but the two I have found don't have the exact part number as mine and have been told not to use anything thats not exact. Am I correct that the control unit is under the dash of the passenger side towards the center. Measures 3 3/4 X2 X 1 1/8 inches. Has a 10 plug rectangular plug.Part no.610.112.00. I could be looking for the wrong unit. Also in the fuse box thyere is a relay that says its for the sunroof but obviously one doesn't exist. Does the top talk to that relay at all and if so how.
Thanks for the help guys,Earl |

Earl,
I believe I have the Bentley schematic scanned and will email to you. Send me a PM. In my '88, the top "computer" is under the removable floor panel in the passenger seat foot well. If you are not getting any power for the locks at the top front rail, I suspect fuses and not the computer. But I am far from an expert. AFJuvat knows tons about this stuff and has some great posts.
