Cruise Control Problem

I do a fair amount of driving on the Interstate in my 87 targa and use the CC most of the time. I find that if I don't use the CC then my radar detector gets more activity than I want it to (if you know what I mean.) Last week I was toolin' down the road staying just under the local radar trigger point when the cruise control just shut off. No matter what I tried, it didn't respond. About 10 minutes later it just started working again.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Try cleaning the conections on the control box under the dash. I determined that my control box was kaput when I could get it to work by tapping on it while trying to engage the control lever. I got a used one and cleaned all the contacts in the stalk and have not had a problem since.

In the Mercedes world a common problem is cracked/poor solder joints in the CC amplifier. Resoldering them usually solves the problem.

The clutch switch and brake switches are a good place to look as well.
Good luck,
