Oil LIght problem
Can anyone help me solve my problem? I have an 84 Targa, and it has a strange problem as of late. After it is warmed up, whenever the tach drops below 2800-3000 RPM, the parking brake/oil/seat belt light all come on, and stay on until the tach breaks that threshold. Is this a major problem? How can I solve it? Thanks

What color is the oil light you're seeing; green or red?

I do believe red is the alternator light (oil light is green?) - check your owner's manual; you may have an alternator problem.

This is exactly the problem I had a couple months ago.
The oil light switch sender is the culprit. It is a 10 to 12 dollar part. The part is almost dead center of the engine top behind the fuel injection/airbox. You need to remove the airbox to get access. The part has a spade connector with a wire connected that sends the signal to the idiot light. I had to use a mirror to see it even after removing the air box. It wasn't bad. About 45 minutes to hour work.
