911 vs... a jeep wrangler?

Hey everyone,
No, there is no special racing jeep coming out... I just felt like sharing an interesting story about some local rednecks.
I'd just filled my gas tank and pulled out of the gas station... the lights red, so I'm in the left turn lane waiting to turn. I sorta notice this mud splattered white jeep wrangler come to a stop behind me. Apparently in SC it is a crime to have a 911 in racing decals because the only real racecars are all chevys or fords, and NASCAR is the only official racing body. Unfortunately I had my numbers, my Rennsport Charleston Racing decal, and my race seat in the car, so it definitely was not looking like a street car at the time.
The guy just starts revving his engine behind me... at first I gave him the benefit of the doubt.. maybe it's carbureted maybe whatever... but as the light turns green he turns into the lane next to mine and starts being a jerk... speeding up and slowing down weaving close to my car. The whole time I'm thinking... the engine's warm... you have 290hp... drop it into 2nd and make this guy piss his pants.
Thankfully my wife was in the car so I showed a little restraint, but at the next light he'sstopped next to me and goes "hey you're a *******... hey you in the porsh... etc... etc..." so as I'm giving the shirtless redneck the finger I just laughed and said I didn't want to waste the gas to teach him a lesson.

I mean seriously... what the heck was he thinking.... we live in a world of morons... I mean it's a fun road to go all out on, and I've done it with a few fellow 911 owners and corvette or two, but we're always smiling at each other and having fun... this guy was just a moron... and did he really think he was even going to stay near my car?

*sigh* ok, I've vented...

Andrew

People like that either:

Hate their job
Hate their family
Hate their life
Drink way too much....and then go fer a spin
Are total d*cks with more bravery than brains
Get a rise out of being all of the above

These guys do this as an anonymous way of being cool - "Hey I don't know that guy.....let's try to be the Alpha Male of the Street"

I have a friend who's a bit of a hillbilly that I know from my days drag racing a Mustang and he was constantly needling me about my little car with the little engine. One day I got tire of his BS and took him for a ride. Now this is a guy whose driven at least 11 second drag cars so he doesn't scare too easily but I took my car out and ran it through the gears fast enough to slam his head into the seat. Next I found a nice tight left turn and slammed him into the passenger door, after exiting the turn I nailed the brakes and nearly put him under the dash. I'll never forget the look on his very pale face when i said "so NOW do you understand?"

Next time you find an idiot like this either ignore him or give him the spanking he deserves.

Turn off the street. Those kinds scare me. There are so many knuckle draggers in the world, you have to go the other way. It's not worth a second thought.

Ignore them, as you have nothing to prove....
You know what your car can do....they don't nor do they need to...

You did the right thing, You could have dragged him out of his bushwacker, beat the tar out of him, and he still would be a flaming moron who would have learned nothing. Some people do not have the ability to get beyond the 8th grade mentality, thats why we have garbage men.

I've never had a truck screw with me, but it seems like every ricer in town wants to test their mettle.

The best one I had was when I was driving down the freeway early one Sunday at about 60mph, and a '63 lowrider Impala on hydraulics (about the same height as me) pulled next to me with some pretty hardcore looking characters (Crips or Bloods?) and they nodded their heads and gave me a thumbs up. I still crack up thinking if that.

10:1 he was fueled up with 101 octane Miller High life. I've had those types around me before. It's no fun. I had one once in a beat up old early 90's cadillac that was smoking like a James Bond car with the smoke screen on with his kids standing up in the passenger's seat. He wouldn't leave me alone and was driving like an idiot, so when I finally got on the highway I bumped it up to about 120 for a minute and then dropped back down to 75. 60 seconds later he came smoking by swerving and changing lanes with his kids standing up on the seats going 100. Fortunately he kept going at that pace, but I feel really sorry for his kids. Even if he doesn't kill them he's probably setting them up for a repeat of his life

Or, he could have beat the tar out of our Porsche man. Have you ever fought a drunk? They don't know when to quit because it doesn't hurt......yet.

You should've shown him what a 911 can do. Jerks like that don't understand any other language than defeat.

The problem is that sometimes they don't even understand that, especially when they've been drinking. Tooling along to work once at 70 with the flow of traffic with an open lane next to me I had someone in a BroncoII come up behind me really fast and sit on my tail (I was in the middle lane). The were really, really close, especially since we were going ~70. I had about a mile until my exit, so I dropped down to third, bumped the speed up a bit, got around some traffic and dropped back to a normal speed with the guy stuck behind the traffic. I was in the exit lane getting off of the freeway when from three lanes over going at least 90 probably a tad more this idiot comes across all three lanes into the exit in front of me, he then swerves to get back into the freeway and gets the little think a little loose, swerves back like he thinks taking the exit will be better, but he's still loose, so he swerves back like to get back on the freeway at this point narrowly missing the sign at the end of the exit. I was very, very surprised that the thing didn't roll since he got it a bit sideways with his swerving back and forth. Sometimes luck just favors the fool.

My two cars are a 911 and a stock 2000 Wrangler Sport. From 0-10mph, the Wrangler will smoke the 911 easily.

First of all, life is too short to feel obligated to respond to every idiot playing games like that. Second, anyone that would respond while the wife is in the passenger seat needs to re-evaluate their priorities.

Find humor in the fact that he has to spend the rest of his life being himself.

Not my wife, she'd of told me to floor it. I'd rather just ignore jerks like that but once in a while I'll teach them a lesson. Like last winter I'm driving my Nissan slowly due to about 8 inches of snow on the ground and some jerk starts honking at me to go faster. I stopped at the next traffic light, waited for it to turn green then tached it up and dropped the clutch covering his windshield with the snow flying off all four spinning Super Swampers.

I guess I just don't have the patience for jerks like that anymore.

I wouldn't put my wife in a dangerous situation, even if she thought it was a good idea.

Zeke is correct. That jeep guy has issues that have nothing to do with cars.

After driving out the Peoria from NYC last summer the Pcar need a washing. I pulled into a DIY car wash, all the slots were full except one. There was a guy with a pickup and a stockcar on a trailer maneuvering around...I didn't pay attention. So, I pulled into the open slot, got out and got some quarters from the machine. When I returned the good ol' boy was right in my face, "couldn't you see I was backing in here dick?" "What, you think you and that little fancy car, blah, blah, blah, dick!" He was maybe 6' 3" and weighed 250lbs. plus. I just said, "geez, sorry. Didn't know," and moved out of his way. You never know when that good ol' boy will lose it and pull out his shotgun because his beloved ran away with a guy who had a Porsche.

If they don't get it already, they never will.
