More 915 Transmission woes
I drained my transmission this weekend to help determine why I can no longer shift into second gear. About a dozen synchro teeth came out with the oil. Guess it is time for a rebuild.
I do not understand why 2nd gear will not engage when the car is not running. All other gears work fine, running or not. It feels like 2nd gear is blocked somehow. Bent shift rod or fork? First is OK. It even works better now that the transmission oil has been changed. How does the 1-2 slider work that 1st is good, but 2nd wont engage? |

If the Synchro Teeth are broken off, it's possible that the Synchro Band has "expanded" and is blocking the way. Sounds similar to what I had going on with my First Gear. Take a look here.
