stump the early 911/912 experts

What gives ? I went to bleed the brakes on a 67 912 and instead of bleeders I find on both front calipers a very small little round thing (not a broken off bleeder) I have a picture but can't figure out how to post the picture unless I put it on the classified section - help please Jeff

Hey Jeff. I don't know the answer to your question but I just wanted to say hi. Do you remember me. It's John the guy you sold that silver 912 to this winter. Almost have the engine done (took a long time) joined the case a few weeks ago and am just waiting for a few more parts to finish up. Sorry I can't help with your brake question. -john

To post a picture us the "post reply" button instead of the quick reply window. There is a section to upload pictures.

Those calipers should have a bleeder nipple.

thanks for the help I looked at the other side a little closer again and I am afraid that it is possible that both bleeders are broken off. but tell me what you think

Cool

That may be a screw in the bleeder hole. There seems to be some rust around it.

Good luck,
David Duffield

I would probably put some penetrating oil on them and let them soak. Then use some vice grips to work them lose. Toss them and buy the right fitting. BTW, some of you have great eyes. I had to look twice to see the phillips head AFTER you pointed out what they were. Be prepared for a rebuild!

Yea, those little bleeders nipples screw right out. Looks like somebody screwed them out and just stopped them up with philips head screws. Surprised they're not leaking.

john glad to hear it is going well --- thanks to the rest for your input --- I think it is a screw put into the broken bleeder the other looks like a slotted screw about the same size -o any suggestions on who to send them to get the piece removed for a proper repair? thanks
