Sound pad type

I will need to replace the sound pad in my 87 911, its my understanding that OEM pads are too thin and fall apart, there is a few sellers that offer a thicker foam type pad, but I am afraid they also may disintergrate due to heat. Any suggestions?

The new pads from PAG are just fine and will last many years or decades. They are lighter than the old pads. I've looked at the aftermarket pads and seen no benefits. They will cost more, weigh more, and maybe reflect more heat onto the engine. Any one of these would rule them out in my opinion.

Same boat here.

Forgive the ignorance, but what is PAG? Where can I order the pad?

How sad is this: I got the Porsche part. What's the "AG"?

Is there any reason not to get the pad from Pelican? This is the foil one for $89. Not OEM.

AG is German for ab...g.... something, which means a public corporation of some sort -- maybe like a limited liability co. here - not sure.

PAG is shorter, so I use that.

Zoana - re the refelctive pad, see my comments above. It's not a huge amt. of heat, so if you like a shiny thing there, get it.

Yeah, the shiny might not be the right look. I could spray-paint it with some sort of flammable flat black, maybe.
