what adhesive to use to hold power window in the channel?
I'm referring to the channell that grips the window and pulls it down with the power window mechanism.
mine came loose again. as it did about 5years ago. Last time I used some kind of clear silicone goop / caulk it wasn't a pleasant job, and I'd prefer not to need to do this yet again in a few years. Got any thoughts on what would be a more permanent solution? |
Use quick set urethane after a thorough cleaning with degreaser. Make sure things aren't binding. The window should almost drop with gravity. You may want to lube the regulator and the glass run channel.

thanks,
so perhaps silicone spray on the runners and lithium grease on the inside equipment? |
Wayne told me to use 3M waterproof marine adhesive. It comes in a white/green tube. Worked great.

Like any repair of this sort, prep the area real well to get a good bond. I would use naptha or acetone to get good oil free surfaces. |
I used the 3m marine adhesive, too. It may be worth replacing the channel inserts, too, in case thats causing the window to bind. They're not terribly expensive.

I went to a local glass shop. They gave me the remainder of a tube of urethane that is used to glue in windshields. Apparently, they frequently have partially used tubes of adhesive that just get thrown out since once opened, they don't have any shelf life. Worked great.
