997 sound files, pics and article (in German)
FYI, if you are interested. The pics have been around, but even if you aren't fluent in German, you can make your way about half down the page and listen to the sound files. Sure sounds like the flat six is still alive, even with the green stuff flowing through it's veins. Also, the horn still is a MESS.
![]() http://www.spiegel.de/auto/fahrberichte/0,1518,304226,00.html This new, prettier model should get the 993 into the afordable range. My theory is that there is many 993 owners holding out for the 997. The article also says that the 996 was the most successfull 911 yet with 160k of them sold over 7 years. There you have it. Plenty of those 996 cars around to be stripped and raced. ![]() Cheers, George |

eeeew, that horn sounds like...... an American car!!!! How could they do that. Is that the way the 996s sound? I have test driven several boxters and don't recall them having an Americanized horn, don't really remember though. At least the flat six sounds good.

The horn sounds just like the old one. Maybe it is my computer speakers? I sure think they could have engineered a better horn. Those 'made in France' pieces on my SC will have to go.
