Jacking up front (pics)
Preparing to do suspension work and lifted up front. Before I crawl under wanted thoughts on how I supported.
Thanks

Looks fine to me. That is where I support the front when doing suspension work. I also move the tires up just behind the jack stands and shim the space between the tire and bottom of the car with some wood, just in case the jack stand was to fail. Just some additional insurance.

Odd looking, but it's correct, right?

I like that kind of stand in the 6 ton model. It's more stable to use than short stands w.o extending too much. The wood block acoss the stand top is better than parallel like in the 1st pic.
Make sure to examine the wood for a decent piece that won't split in two. As a carpenter, I guess that's easier for me. Let me just say the grain should not run up and down. Side to side "flat grain" lumber is best. Longer is good too. The wood grain in those two pics looks ggod. |

i actually use a 2x4 that i beveled the same angle as the V postion of my floor jacks. i put the beveled side into the floor jack pads and the flat (wide) portion on the tub area as you have. i also ran the 2x4 one piece the entire width of the car. it really seemed to solidify the entire set up by tying the two stands together with the long 2x.

Hey, Chris where'd you lift it from? The placement of the stands look fine to me.

I jacked up each side via the access hole with jack pad.

Bike is my daughters, but I have been known to take it for a spin now and again.
I figured I should show the "other" side on the car now that you have all seen the bottom.

It looks much better from that angle. There is something about a red car that I really like!

Looks like US ride height. I would lower to Euro specs. 25 1/2" in front and 25" in back.

Everything is sloped in these pictures, kind of hard to tell.

It is at US spec. Part of the suspension work I have planned is to lower to Euro specs. Not sure if I will try to do the back w stock spring plates or buy the Sway Away adjustables.
Any input is welcomed. Chris

Chris keep in mind your rear spring plates have 3/4"-1" of up and down adjustment before you have to pull the torsion bars and reindex. Unfortunately I had to reindex mine. Assuming the torsion bars are not stuck, it is about a 2 hour job.
Here is a pic of mine at Euro height:

Kurt,
Aren't you a little old to be trolling the local high schools in a very nice Porsche?

Can you slide the tbar out backways with the block of wood where it is?
I would consider cutting slots in a block of wood about half the size of those that fit into the body seams at the very sidemost, outermost, behind the wheel areas. That's what I did and it works great. You want less wood block I am thinking anyways. John
