Depends on what you like to do race wise nothing...hmmm I will be going to Atlanta,Ga on the 11 of July and switching planes heading for Birmingham,Alabama for an insurance workshop. First time to the east coast.

I wont have my car, but are there any car shows, local AX, or?
-- Ah yes, ATL, they say here around the south that even when you die, you must change planes in ATL before continuing.

There's The Pavillions car show in Scottsdale on Saturday nights. It's amazing how well attended this show is for being a weekly event. It starts late afternoon and goes on into the night. Prime time is around 6:00 - 7:00pm. Earlier there are not many cars due to the heat and later in the evening it gets ricey. You never know what you'll see there. My favorite attendees were the McClaren and the jet powered motorcycle. There are always loads of classic, custom, hot rods, and muscle cars. Porsches show up, but unless it's a Pelican group or PCA there will only be a couple.
To get there take the 101 to Indian Bend. Head west on Indian Bend and the Pavillions shopping center will be on your right. I'm doing a two day Bondurant School course that weekend or I'd say I'd meet you up there. You could also visit F1 Race Factory ( http://www.f1racefactory.com/ ). It's a super indoor karting track just north of the airport off of 143. edit: I found this link with three pages of photos from The Pavillions: http://fly-n-hi.com/pavillions_3_04/ I don't know how many cars show up there, but I'd guess a hundred or more.
