Best source for a 3.6?

I am looking for a 993/964 3.6 and wondered what was the
best source for an engine of those who have bought one off the board or elsewhere.

I am currently looking at one from Jon at EBS racing. Anyone
had dealings with them? It is a 95 993 with around 40k but
no history on it. The price is right but it does not have a dme
or harness.

check out www.911pcar.com this is a link to la porsche dismantler. I have never dealt with them so I can't tell you anything about their trust worthiness, but it seems like they always have engines at good prices. Hope that helps a little.

carrerasport on this board also sells them.

EBS Racing

I have dealt with EBS Racing but not Jon. I have had very good luck with them with some parts and a performance 944 Turbo cylinder head rebuild job. MGH

Bought mine from Steve Timmins as a complete "crate" engine. Check out www.instant-g.com.

Harald Julicher is 'speedster94' on this board. He's sold a number of Pelicanites their 3.6s (including me). With one exception that I know of, everyone's had a great experience with him. And as I understand it, he took steps to make things right on the motor that had issues.

The only potential downside is that the weak dollar is going to make his motors (which are from Germany) more expensive, right now.

Steve Timmins is the other name you've got to know. He makes a kit that makes doing the swap feasible for an ordinary DIY-er. (Some exceptional DIY-ers on this board have done it without a parts kit.)

If your computer can read Quicktime movies, click on this link for a preview of what's possible with an early car and a 3.6. ;)

I went to the LA Porsche Dismantler website. Did anyone else have trouble taking their eyes off of that '02 996 theft salvage...ohhh the possibilities. If only I had 32 grand for a project car!!! And those 3.4 996 engines or Boxster 2.7 engine, boy that could make for a really fun 914 project!!!!!!! BTW, has anyone tried putting one of the newer water pumpers into a 911 or 914 that anyone knows of?
