Battery Holddown

Anyone have a suggestion for battery holddown in a 1982 911SC for an Optima battery? There is one threaded hole in the middle of the battery compartment that I could rig some type of holder and flange toward the rear of the compartment but there is no lip on the Optima that mates to the flange. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I just use a tidy installation of 2 bungee cords, and I've had no problems so far.

I purchased one (AJ-USA if I recall correctly), but you could easily make one for the Optima. In fact, I seem to recall a DIY thread within the past year or so for making one...do a search. The battery bolts onto the 'mounting plate', and then you secure the plate to the car using the rear flange and the single bolt. Hope this helps...Keith

This is exactly what I did last weekend. I made the plate out of a 1/2" piece of poplar and bolted the battery to it.

You'll have to jury rig to the flange, but a marine battery box just fits in the LF cubby hole. You have to cut about an inch+ off the top of the box, but it works, and no corrosion. I don't even tie down the box, but if you compete you probably should.
