Front Stone Guard - Is it Safe to Remove?

Is it safe to leave off the front stone guard/shield under the front of my 83 911SC? This is the shield that covers the tie rods and sway bar. That piece of metal is heavy and seems like an over-kill.

Thanks ............................... Randy

Having gone off track many times and seeing the dirt and grass collected under there, and having put a few dents into that shield, I'm glad that it is protecting everything down there. Five pounds is not a high price to pay for peace of mind, and avoiding future expensive replacements.

It protects your brake master cylinder and brake lines.
Ideally you would like a pan like that going the full lenth of the car to keep and maintain a negative preasure area.
Leave it on, add lightness to the top of the car where it will help lower the CG.

Excellent point Ted. I did not take into account the CG.

Thanks .............................. Randy
