6 point harnesses. What color is safer?
I am putting in Autopower 6 point harnesses when I install my Momo RSGT seats. I am considering red or black for the harnesses. The interior of the car is black. Would red be safer for the harness color? I was thinking maybe they would be easier to locate for the safety crew. Any thoughts?

there's really only one place the latch for the harness could be located...and everyone knows those safety guys are...well...a bit more jaunty than most.

I have never heard much concern for belt color as a safety issue.
An idea ahead of its time? For now the enduro night racers still use black belts. "red is the new black" and it would highlight your slim waist and wide shoulders. ![]() |

fwiw, i have red pull tabs on blk harness, and the red sometimes reflects up into the gauge faces causing momentary heart failure... I'd opt for some other color than red

Wait a minute there Shawn. Are you sure you want to go down that 6pt route? I remember hearing of some problems that occured and certain body parts would not function after repeated use of the 6pt harness.
I would consult your family doctor or local witch before you proceede.

I had heard that 6 points are safer than 5 points. Also my seat dont have sub belt holes so I need to use 6 points. I will just quit riding my bicycle to offset the risk to the......parts.

i think this is a vailed attempt to make the right fashion statment. this seems to be a question that needs a womans take, maybe you should find a martha stewart BBS. she will point you toward a very good thing.
a couple of questions that may help you decide- what season will you be using this most? you know all about fall, winter, spring and summer color proceedures? if not see above. what color are your current accessories? ie, shoes, handbags, or hats? dont want this thing to clash! what has the "color counter" at macy's said your strong shades are? mine have been revealed to be an off white, cream colored in a pinch.

If you are doing drivers ed., you want a color that the entrance person can see.
I have used 6 point and still dont have any problems down there. I do have to do some re-adjusting once I get strapped in. |

Mostly DE's and Auto-Xing. I thought the red would be safer, but didnt want to be branded a "ricer" as the belts would be the only red thing in the car.
Well off to pick up my seats. I will order my belts sometime this week so fell free to continue with the disscussion in my absence. I will check in when I get back.

Shawn, nothing about your car is rice. Can you get them in gulf blue or orange? If not, I'd go with black. I was kidding about the foam rubber

The reasoning is that a stock belt is safer than an improperly installed 5/6- point harness.

![]() I'd recommend black. You'll just want to be wearing light colored pants when the cornerworkers take a knife to those straps...you don't want them to miss. ![]()

A knife? They can't twist the cam lock? I would think the latch would be a lot faster than sawing away with a knife. Safer too.
I might be the only guy to have a black Nomex suit. I had black belts. In retrospect, a color might have been better. Never thought about it. |
