fuel filter threads - same top and bottom?
I'm installing a new Bosch fuel filter in my 1980 sc from PP. On the old one, I had a bear of a time removing the top fitting. On the new one, I can hardly get the fitting to thread on. Are the top and bottom threads the same on these filters or different?
Thanks, Graham |
Graham I had the same issue on my 78SC. I believe they are different, there also is much confusion about correct FF's for 78-83 SC's. I would compare the old one and the new one and make sure they are the same. I went thru this and the good folks at Pelikan immediately sent me the correct one.

You need to compare the bosch part number on the old one and new one, they must match. There is also a directional arrow on them. As, rlane mentioned, there are a couple of different fuel filters on SC's and they don't interchange.

I had the same problem with my 80 SC, the stock filter has 13mm threads on both ends, the replacement fitler I bought had 12 on one end and 13 on the other.
If your original filter has a number stamped on it that ends with 016 it sounds like you are in the same boat. Don't use the model year to buy the filter, use the number stamped on it. |
