2.7 Badge

Is there such a thing as a 2.7 grill badge ?? If so, which year(s) had them ? Perhaps, if they existed, they're removed on purpose ?? Sort of a form of camafloge ?

'72 and '73 911s had a 2.4 badge, while '74-'77 911s had a 2.7 badge. Our host sells the 2.7 badges here:

jim72911t: Are you sure about that? I have seen two 77s, including mine, that doesn't have the 2.7 badge. I think I have read somewhere that itīs only the 74-75 (and the 73rs) that has it.

PP sells it. But they say it's attached with 2sided sticky tape. Not included.

How does that work out on the grill strips. Doesn't seem very secure. It that really how the (stock) badge is attached ? Or any other engine badge for that matter ?

You'd think there would be some through fasteners or something.

If so, is there some sort or "industrial strength" sticky tape that is used?

Stock one attached with double sided tape to an equal sized bracket made of a very soft metal that fit inside the emblem. There are 4 small holes in the grill and this bracket has little nubs that are pressed into the grill.
I took mine off when I refinished my grill and when I reapplied it I used 3M doublesided tape and did not press the feet back in the holes. It has held up fine over the past 3 months or so since I did it. 3M tape is some pretty strong stuff and holds very well.

Pat,

If I understand you correctly, just sticking it to the grill strips isn't going to hold it very secure.

The chance of finding the little bracket is probably slim at best. Not sure I want to spen $30 and have the thing melt off in 2 mins. when the temp gets a little warm.

I'll look for the small holes just to satisfy my curiousity.

No, I think just sticking it on with 3M trim tape WILL hold well. Just make sure the surface is clean. You get a pretty good surface area and they don't weigh anything.

I'd post a WTB and see if you can find a used one cheap. Then try it out.
