Confused about Clutch/flywheel choices
I'm trying to find the right Clutch/Pressure Plate/Flywheel combo to mate an 86 3.2 and 74 915 and so far i'm striking out. My problems/questions are:
1) None of the pieces flywhweel, clutch, pressure plate) seem to include the sawtooth ring that the speed sensor needs. Is this another separate part? 2) When looking for a flywheel do i need one that fits the year of my engine or the year of my transmission? 3) Same question regarding the Clutch and pressure plate 4) This is a Pelican related confusion and maybe i'm dense but the guy on the phone didn't really clear it up either. If you look at the Sachs Power Clutch (PEL-3000-961-101) it's $487, fits 74-86 and includes pressure plate, clutch disc and throw out bearing. Then you look at the clutch packages lower on that page and they are split into 74-77 (911CP-2001) and 78-86 (911CP-2002), also include pressure plate, clutch disc and throw out bearing and one is $100 cheaper the other is $200 more than the power clutch? And finally on the top of that page they have super clutch packages that are further split into 78-79 and 80-86 , cost $200 more than the Power clutch ( i know they include a number of extra parts) and you can upgrade the super kit to the power clutch for an additional $100. 5) Or I could avoid the whole mess of questions above if someone could just tell me what i need for mate up a 3.2 with no flywheel attached, and a bare 74 915. Preferably with an upgraded clutch, and lightened flywheel and/or pressure plate. thanks,

I'm pretty sure you need a flywheel for a 915 3.2 ('84-'86). I think that comes with teeth on it for the reference sensors, but you'll still need the ring gear too. I think any 915 clutch kit will work, provided your guide tube and t/o bearing are matched. Not sure if you can install light weight flywheel AND light weight pressure plate. One will work for sure, but both may cause stalling issues with the stock chip.
