Sick of not having A/C, help me put a system together.
I don't care about the weight I want cold air. With that said, will the parts in this picture be everything I need to add a/c, minus the evaporator of course.
I have a '69 912 I believe it had a/c but currently does not have a compressor. Here are a few pics of whats left Does the Behr fan get reused or do I need a different one for A/C.

Defroster/vent blower fan is not used for the A/C; the A/C evaporator (the item in the smuggler's box) has it's own fan. The parts collection shown is missing hoses and a receiver drier. I am not familar with the 912 compressor brackets but it appears some parts may be missing. I would not use that compressor ( 10 cu in. York) unless you have no other choice. The compressor pulley groove may not match the crank shaft pulley groove in terms of alignment fore and aft. With that condenser you will not have cold air while stopped or moving slowly in traffic. Condenser and evaporator should be flushed before reuse; to flush the evaporator you will need to remove the expansion valve and perhaps replace it. If going to R-134a refrigerant; you will need to replace the refrigerant oil in the compressor and perhaps some of the seals/gaskets. The dash outlets units do not look like one's that will fit an early 911 dash. Where did this collection of parts come from? They look like a mix of SC and early 911 parts. Did you get a front condenser? You may need to add an external oil cooler to avoid overheating the engine. To do this job plan on spending $500 if you can use the parts you have on hand. Jim

The parts in the top pic are on sale on the parts board right now, they came off of a 73 targa. I think the vents are right for an early car. I haven't bought anything yet. I figured I would ask questions first. I should have noted that my 912 has a 2.0 911 motor in it, are the brackets pictured right for that motor? I do need to keep the Behr defroster/vent fan in order to use the defroster right? Thanks, Sam

There is a good article on the pelican tech site somewhrer about the various A/C configurations fitted over the years You should read it.

Forget the York Compressor. Look for a Seiki Seiko or if you can't find one of those, look for a Sanden. Try to buy a new or rebuilt. compressor. You will also need a new drier.

Sammy,
I am sending you my cell phone number in another e-mail. I'll GIVE you all the items I pulled from my 1977 Targa A\C system if you come out to Edgewood to look them over. It had almost everything except the compressor, but a few items got damaged during removal. Most are OK though. -Rick-
