What's this hose? Am I in trouble?
I found a rubber hose in my engine compartment that seems to be cracking. No leaks yet but it looks to be getting moist around the crack.
Here are the specs... 3.2 Euro, the hose comes out from the back from behind the airbox and feeds into the oil funnel/filler pipe. So is there any temporary fix for this? Can I tape it up or anything like that? Or do I need to replace the hose as soon as possible? Anyone know what part number the hose is? Thanks in advace! clean it up, wrap with electrical tape, then drive till you get a new one. no damage done

TRE Cup,
Do you know what the hose is? Thanks! |
That is the hugefrikinmesshose.
It's purpose is to kill all the bugs in your immediate area if you overfill your oil.;) Tom |
its a breather hose for your oil system . leaving it open allows un metered air to enter the system and might allow the car to run lean (but the oxs system will compensate to a certain degree) so you did not do any damage since your car probably kept running somewhat decent, right? if it had been full open, the car probably would not start

Cool! Thanks for the respose, TRE Cup!!
