Question on Rockers....
The part of the car called the "rockers"... why are they called that?
Edit: I mean the part under the car. (sometimes call the "longitudenals").

For the body - to keep rocks from bouncing off your doors ... my guess.
For the engine - valve actuators that "rock" back-and-forth. Did you know that the part/gap between the steering column and the dash cluster is officially called the "banana" in the auto industry? All kinds of weird terminology used ... sometimes the same part is called different things between manufacturers too.
