To flare or not to flare.....
I've been debating in my head, do I want to add flares to the back of the 912-6. Right now the car has 7x17's all around, but I wouldn't mind going to 8 or 9's in the rear for a more agressive stance.
I've got a front lip spoiler to add and I'm sanding on the duck tail rignt now, prepping for paint. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1088522886.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1088522975.jpg |
Flare it so I can come and see how it's done.

The car looks nice as it is, but the flares are even nicer, and you can stick on that wider rubber.

The car's a bastard already, so I vote for IROC flares and spoilers all around!

how is the paint on the car?
|
Andy's question is key: if the paint isn't good and recent, it's easier to rationalize the *complete repaint* you're likely to need, since it's unlikely you can get a satisfactory match to that color. Of course, since you're putting a ducktail on it, you're probably already anticipating that.

Flare it

Definitely flares

no flares. It looks good.

Flares and fiberglass bumpers (IROC or backdate). Go for it.

930 look!

Paint was redone a few years back, looks okay. I'm not looking for a show car, just a fun driver. Figured since I needed to do the duck an a new rear valance, I could just paint from the edge of the doors back on both sides.

No flares. Narrow bodies are disappearing.

A nice thing about adding flares- We cheated the Cararra flares out an extra 1/4 inch or so on my '73 to make sure 275's on 10" wheels will fit.

PorschePilot-
I just noticed your signature- Not a cloud in the Seattle area today, and I miss my V-tail! Sold it a few years ago. |

Actually, your mid-year style car does have small flares, compared to the first 911's.

John, Keep the narrow body, add a front and rear bumper to go with your ducktail.
