Correct mixture setting and timing settings 911 2.7s 1975 please anyone!!
 

I know the timing info will be on here somewhere but while I'm asking for the correct Co2 setting could anyone give me a brief summary please - I jnow it's something to do with setting it at 6000 RPM (scarey)...

I used to know the Co2 setting and forgot it..

I've just done the Dwell (to 40ish) and seem to have lost a bit of my power band... running smooth though..
I thought it might be that the timing was set to the previous points setting and now that I've adjusted it I should reset the timing.. If that soesn't get me my power band back I'll be reposting - so some guidance about these two procedures would be very helpful to get me on...

Set the dwell to 38, plus or minus 3 degrees.
Set the CO to 3.5% (according to JW).
Set the timing to 33 to 35 degrees advance at 6000 rpm.

If this is incorrect, please someone jump in here, before I send this man down the road to ruin.

I would set the CO between 1 and 3% and time it at 5 degrees after top dead center.

Could someone just explain the marks on the pulley etc...

I found the specs before - but the procedure eludes me..

You will need a dwell meter to set the dwell. Make sure it is hooked up correctly and is set to 6 cylinder. You can use this meter for setting idle speed.

A gas analyzer (such as Gunson) will give you the correct settings for CO. If your idle hunts or if the engine feels choked off as you approach redline, you are set too rich. A too lean condition has symptoms of the engine feeling too easy to rev and a light colored tailpipe. You will need a 3mm allen wrench to set the CO at the screw which is located down in the hole on the top of the mixture control unit.

You need to hook up a timing gun (light) to set the timing. You are right, changing the dwell changes the timing. If dwell was and is now within spec, it shouldn't change, but it is prudent to check.

If you do some searches, you should find the correct procedures in detail.

There should be some engine compartment stickers that will show you what marks to look for on your pully.
