Aluminum floor for 911?

A friend car is here in my carport which I trying to cut out rusted out sheet metal and weld in new fresh sheetmetal.

We already knew that the floor in driver and passenger are rusted out and patched more than one time.

I wondering about to cut out everything between doorsills (spelling?) and weld in thin rectangular profiles then rivet in aluminum plates that acts as floor?, maybe cut out the cardan tunnel (spelling?) and weld in new and higher mounting base for shifter.

Anyone who did that before and is it legal?

The car will be a road and track car with full cage.

Mattias,
I believe some of the 935 chassis had Al. floors. Keep in mind these cars were tube frame cars. With a full cage you can run some extra support crossways in the car to stiffen it up. I'll see if I can find some pictures. As far as legality goes, is this car being raced? If so, you would have to check with the sanctioning body to see if this is allowed.

Cheers, James

No racing is the target, only for fun.

I know how the 935 is made, but can I lose too much rigidity in the chassis if I do that?, of course I run stiffening tubes across the car which can be supports to seats also.

I need to do some research before I cut the car in half

It´s a 912 btw.
