Muffler repair?
I have a 1973 S with a stock 2 in, 1 out muffler. The muffler is in very good shape externally, but is quite loud and is slowly becoming louder. I suspect that the internal baffles have worn away. Is it possible to have a muffler shop cut the banana open and repair the baffles, or should I just replace it? Also, does anyone know if these old mufflers have asbestos in them?

I would just replace the muffler. As for if it has asbestos inside, I highly doubt it.

It's not worth fixing. Now's the time to upgrade to that growly exhaust note you've always secretly been craving!
