who is doing the bay area, two day autocross?
finally got off my butt to send in registration and fees! i cannot wait. it will be my first time. i hear of others having the time of their lives. planning to wear my streetbike helmet.
my buddy with the 928 is already talking smack. (his first time too, but historically, he is the better driver). i hope to participate on the one-day drive on the 17th just for a dry run to try to stack my deck. soon enough my friend will introduce the "gentleman's bet". any tips, so that i do not embarrass my 911 bretheren? cliff

I've heard the Alameda course is nice if that's the one you are talking about.
I'm committed for that weekend. If you really like it, come up to sonoma county Airport the following weekend they run the event smoothly and are relaxed.

Go fast in the fast parts, and slow in the slow parts. Also, slip a $20 to the person writing down the times.
![]() You're going to the autocross at alameda on the 17th then? I'm going to try to make that, hopefully I'll see you there. Dan

I have found that most of the drivers will help you out.
What is really fun is to co-pilot with someone that is really good. Watch hand positions, when they go fast and when they slow down. I've learned soo much about driving a 911 from autocross. Beware!! it is very addicting....

cliff, i got rushed away before i was able to finish the post above, so heres a bit more. get there early and get an instructor. try to set up for one in the morning and a different guy in the afternoon. i have found different styles of instruction can be helpful. you will more than likely get to ride with the instructor, and he with you.
i think the san fran 2 day is an autocross school, which would be ideal for you if you've never attended before. its probally full, but get on the waiting list so if someone cancells you can get in. i did it in 02 and it was killer. i did not sign up in time but a last minute notice from a pelican that his wife would not be running opened the door for me. i was told at like 9pm the night before and still went. some i have heard actually show up the day of the school and get in if there is a no show. we can all get together if you're going to alameda and run in the same group. that way we work and rest at the same time.

Vash,
I've never been to any GGR AutoXs but the Redwood region AutoXs at the Sonoma County Airport are great fun. I usually miss them for one reason or another (big time squeeks in my front end this time) Turnout is relatively small and you often get in more runs. Good place to learn. Next one is 24th of July. I plan on being there (of course a month out I always plan on being there:-)

I've been planning on attending the two day event. I'll have to check and see if there are any spots remaining. Hope I'm not too late.

Damn, now I'm thinking about signing up. I did the class last year, and it was fun. I'm considering dragging my gf along and letting her share my car with me. Hmmm...

Am I correct in assuming I need a tech inspection prior to this event? If I'm reading correctly, the PCA GGR rule book states that I do. See http://www.pca-ggr.org/ggrrb2.html
There is no section 3.4A so I am not sure. I have tentatively scheduled an inspection for later this week when I have my car into my mechanic's shop for alignment/corner balance. -Brad

My wife forgot to mail the registration out today! I hope there's still room for us. Let's do the Alameda autocross also next month.

I sent my registration in today. Assuming I claim one of the 25 to 30 spots remaining, I'm in!
How many spots are there in total? Now to buy a helmet. Looks like it would be best to buy a SA2000 rated one. I intend to run a few DE's in the future. I wish I had my act together a little earlier. I would have liked to participate in the PCA High Performance Driving School at Buttonwillow this coming Saturday. -Brad

you guys will really enjoy it. i will have to get one of you guys to pick me up a shirt at the event, and pay you for it. maybe i can find the scwdp t-shirt (new just a little dusty last time i saw it) that i bought an extra of back in the day for trade?'
brad, if you get in a pinch i have a dirtbike helmet that is good for autocross events. if you need it let me know
